Meaning if "wifi symbol" in the upper left corner of vehicle info

Is the symbol is the red circle below indicating that the vehicle has a “live data” link of some sort? Does the “Automatic settings” switch in the planning view enable / disable the use of this data (as opposed to breaking the link)?
