How to set the map to North Up

I’ve been searching through the menus of ABRP and can’t find anywhere the option to set the map to North Up - don’t get on with the map swivelling around all the time - and to fix the zoom which is auto-flipping between far to close in and the whole route. Do these functions exist?

    North up

    It would be great to allow the user to enable the map to stay in the same orientation, with the North always facing up, regardless of how the vehicle turn.

    In my subjective opinion, a majority of drivers do not use this; but a minority (me) do. Google Maps has this feature.

    I hope that this ask would not put too much burden on the programmers. Thank you so much for considering adding this feature.

      Hi

      You can change this by clicking on the symbol that I marked in red. Then you have several options for the map.

      It seems that the North Up feature is on the cell phone only. Can this feature be on Apple Car Play or Android Auto too?

      Please can we have an option (user preference setting) to make North at the top of the map, instead of the map auto-rotating based on the direction of travel?

        Hi @Keith Mitchell,

        North up is already an available option among view modes. You can select it in navigation options, while in driving mode on your phone (not connected to AA or CarPlay).

    Edit:

    You’ll find the ‘map mode’ button in the top right corner when you’ve entered navigation mode (pressed the ‘drive’ button) in the regular app (not connected to AA / CarPlay.

        That’s correct, you’re viewing plan settings. The ‘view mode’ setting cannot be found in ‘plan settings’.

        You’ll find the ‘view mode’ setting when you start navigation on your device PRIOR to connecting to CarPlay or Android Auto (not connected to AA or CarPlay).


        Edit:

        You’ll find the ‘map mode’ button in the top right corner when you’ve entered navigation mode (pressed the ‘drive’ button) in the regular app (not connected to AA / CarPlay.

          Ah, silly me for not looking in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.” 😉

          Why not make it easily available where it’s needed - on the CarPlay screen? 🙄

            Hi @Tony Raven,

            It’s in CarPlay too. I’ve updated my previous replies to match instructions for the most recent version.


            There you’ll need to:

            1. Tap map to display option buttons

            2. Tap 2nd menu item from the bottom in the bottom right corner

            3. In the menu select your preferred ‘Map mode’
