Manual Zoom Setting Is Overridden

In 3D view, if you change the zoom setting manually using the plus and minus buttons — say to getting a better view of the traffic ahead, or to visualize upcoming turns — the zoom level reverts back to the default by magic (without manually changing it). It seems like that shouldn’t happen, or if there is a use case for that, maybe an option to maintain a manual zoom setting could be added.
