Yes, for connecting via OBD it has always been required to use an OBD device, also referred to as a dongle.
I suspect you might have been connected via ‘Enode’ in the past? This option has been discontinued due to changes on BMWs side. We notified users back in November about this:
“BMW Group has introduced new commercial terms and access restrictions for accessing vehicle data via their API. Unfortunately, the restrictions basically mean that we would get no useful EV data from your vehicle, so we have no choice but to turn off live data via Enode for BMW. As a result, from November 14th, BMW and MINI connectivity via Enode in ABRP will no longer be available. No action is needed on your side. If you’re disappointed by this change, you can share feedback directly with BMW. Hearing from drivers helps highlight how important fair, open access to vehicle data is for enabling smart and sustainable energy services. We thoroughly understand the value of live data in ABRP, and we are always on the lookout for new solutions to allow our users to connect their vehicles. As of now, the recommended method to connect BMW live data to ABRP is via OBD.”

I don’t have a dongle and I don’t know what a token is. It have worked earlier without any of these devices

The token is irrelevant when connecting via OBD. You will however need to have a dongle / OBD in order to use the OBD connection option.
Do you mean that you don’t have an OBD?
