Enforcing a set of providers

Is it possible to enforce a set of charging providers (e.g. just IONITY and EnBW)? If you have a contract there, it would be desireable to just focus on these and not propose any other providers. I don't see how you can achieve this with the current setting (in my case traveling Poland and I can't force just using IONITY). So far, I only see that I can recommend but not enforce e.g. IONITY

    Hi

You can just prefer a network in the settings under Avoid and prefer. You can also add a charge card and then turn on the toggle to use chargers that are supported by the card.

I think the question is “How do you / can you configure ABRP so that it will only propose chargers in the networks that you’ve selected. I think the desired behavior is to use only the preferred chargers — and thus fail to find a route when those aren’t available.

I’d use this feature to try to get the most out of the free EVgo charging that we got with our Bolt before it expires. In trying to make it work I’ve given a “double thumbs up” to EVgo, but sometimes ABRP will still plan routes with other chargers in areas where there are EVgo chargers. It seems like there must be other metrics at work that go into charger selection. It would be really nice to have a way to prefer a charging network above all others if they are available on the route (or maybe fail if there are none with the option to remove the restriction for the current plan).

Can you add a link to that plan?

Let me see if I can remember a trip where that happened. If I can, and if it still chooses other chargers, I’ll add a link for sure.

To be fair, the more I think about this, the harder the problem seems…

What we’re asking for is an optimally suboptimal route :-) On many trips between Seattle and Portland (in the northwestern US) there are quite a few EVgo chargers. So I can almost always make a trip using only EVgo if I’m willing to pick a route that isn’t the most expeditious, or stretch my risk tolerance for arrival SoC. What seems hard is to decide when going N minutes out of the way to a preferred charger is better than using a less preferred charger, or how far it’s okay to exceed the arrival SoC…

Yes, making sure the system ONLY proposes chargers in certain networks. So far, you can only recommend them. Practically speaking, I’m living in Germany and will be travelling to Poland having an IONITY account. I don’t speak Polish, so simplicity is key, not necessarily fastest routo or best price. Currently, the system is proposing lots of Polish providers besides IONITY. Even when I cancel out each one of them, it keeps promoting others. THat’s very annouying and has let me in the past to not use ABPR in Poland at all. Same applies to other European countries - it’s a feature desperately needed when you leave your home country with an electric car.
