Custom vehicle profile for 2013 Nissan Leaf with 58 kWh aftermarket pack

Hello ABRP team,

I drive a 2013 Nissan Leaf with an aftermarket 58 kWh (gross) NMC battery that replaced the original 24 kWh pack. I'd like to use ABRP fully, but I haven't been able to set up the car accurately in the app.

The car:

  • 2013 Nissan Leaf, 58 kWh gross NMC pack with a third-party CAN bridge

  • 6.6 kW onboard charger

  • CHAdeMO port, about 50 kW peak

  • CCS adapter, which I also can't add to the car's profile

  • Measured usable capacity so far: about 37 kWh. I expect 47-50 kWh once the bridge is recalibrated.

What I'm asking:

  1. Can this configuration be added, or can I enter custom battery capacity and charging specs? I haven't found a way to set capacity above the stock figure.

  2. How do I enable the CCS adapter for this car?

  3. Live data: I run Leaf Spy Pro with an OBD-II Bluetooth adapter, and it reads the car without problems. I'd like to link it to ABRP. One complication: the CAN bridge reports the pack to the car as 24 kWh, so the SOC passed along is off. Is there a way to have ABRP use a custom capacity, or calibrate against my own measurements?

For context, I'm working separately with the bridge supplier on the battery management readings. The car currently shuts off at about 3.46 V average cell voltage while showing 4.2% SOC, which leaves an estimated 8-15 kWh unused. Once that's fixed, I'd like ABRP's model of the car to match.

I'm a registered professional engineer and can share Leaf Spy logs, charging data, and test results if that helps you build or check a profile.

    Hi @ABRP User #2263818,

While we’re working on adding more public model to ABRP, you don’t have to wait to get started. We’ve just released a new vehicle modeling tool in the ABRP app that lets you create your own custom model. You can get started with using ABRP with your own model immediately without having to wait for us to add it.

You can create and edit custom models on the web here (log in with your regular ABRP account):

    https://abetterrouteplanner.com/home/app/vehicles ↗

Once you've created a vehicle model, you'll find it at the top of the vehicle list in ABRP under "Custom vehicles".

Quick way to get started from inside ABRP:

    1. Open ABRP and click Add vehicle on the vehicle card (or click the down arrow next to your current vehicle, then choose Add new vehicle).

    2. Scroll to the bottom of the vehicle list and click “Missing vehicle model?”.

    3. Click "Create custom vehicle".

    4. Pick a similar model and edit it, or start from scratch, then save. After you save, ABRP will automatically select your new custom vehicle.

We really welcome any feedback you have on this beta feature, it will help us improve both the custom modeling tool and future public models.
