Compatibility OBD dongle

Hi all,

I recently bought an ODB II dongle from ujinzhou (KW905) via Amazon that works pretty good with apps such as Car Scanner Pro. I have to plan a longer trip with my ID.7 GTX and bought a monthly subscription of ABRP in order to connect to my ODB dongle. It shows up in the listed devices but when pressing next it could not connect.

Any ideas how to cope with that other than buying randomly another dongle?

    I would suppose a BT5.2 dongle fullfills all those listed requirements (BLE) and works with all tested apps like a charm. So sad that it won’t connect to ABRP for whatever reason. Is there any way to detect the problem (such as logs)?

      Given the number of reported issues, it is rather safe to say these types of dongles are of poor quality and don’t connect well over BLE.

      On another note - you wrote that you purchased a subscription in order to connect via OBD. I’d just like to clarify that we do not require a subscription for this live data method.

        Yes, but subscription is required to use carplay. I just bought the vLinker and it is working althoug (even in carscanner) the SOC differs from the native manufacturer value. That’s kind of akward. Getting readings from the dongle values are always 1-2% higher. Anyway it is working now.

        Regarding my previous dongle. It is not mentioned in your refrerenced carscanner section. It was not too cheap, has a higher BT version and worked with carscanner without issues. It just won’t connect (although it was listed in the overview) with ABRP.

    I read this article but purchased my dongle before. My dongle is neither listed as one of the four suggested dongles nor in the “not working” section. I guess there are more dongles out there that should work.

      That’s correct, the available devices are far too many for us to test and therefore both the suggested and the non-suggested lists are not meant to be complete.

      Some key recommendations when choosing a dongle:

      • Supports BLE

      • Not too cheap
