Collecting data in background

Why is it not possible for ABRP to collect data in the background, as many other programs (Komoot, Locus Map, Maps, GPS Logger, Geo Tracker, etc.) are able to do very well? I would like to be able to switch between ABRP and Maps while driving, as Maps provides better traffic data. This feature is important to me.
