Charge Calculation for 800v cars on 400v chargers

I’m using ABRP to compare the Tesla Supercharger network with Ionity for an upcoming trip, using monthly memberships for both. The vehicle will be a 2026 Xpeng G6 Long Range, which has recently been added to ABRP’s vehicle list.

My question is: does ABRP correctly account for the reduced charging speed when an 800 V vehicle charges on Tesla’s 400 V Superchargers?

For example, due to the voltage conversion, the G6 typically receives only around 100kW on Tesla chargers, even though many Superchargers are rated up to 250 kW. In contrast, an 800V Ionity charger should allow the G6 to charge much closer to its 451 kW peak charging capability, depending on the charger model (many Ionity sites are rated at 350 kW).

For an 8% to 79% charge, ABRP estimates:

  • 14 minutes on a Tesla 250 kW Supercharger

  • 12 minutes on an Ionity 350 kW charger

Given the voltage limitation on Tesla chargers, is the estimated charging duration for the Supercharger realistic?
