Changing chargers and route every time I open a saved plan

Dear ABRP Team,

I’m writing to report what seems to be a serious issue with how the ABRP app handles saved trip plans — and to ask whether this is a known bug or if I might be using the app incorrectly.

After investing considerable time adjusting a route for a very long trip I will be making this weekend — avoiding certain chargers, selecting better alternatives, and planning stops carefully (sometimes based on facilities nearby like a restaurant or hotel) — I saved the trip and shared the link.

However, when I reopened that same saved plan the next day, I found that ABRP had changed several of my chosen stops without asking. Three out of five charging stations were different. Today, opening the same link again, even more stops have changed. It seems like every time I reopen the plan, ABRP recalculates the route, ignoring the changes I had previously saved.

This behavior defeats the whole purpose of saving and customizing a trip. For example, if I selected a specific charger for a lunch break at a restaurant, and then on the day of the trip it gets replaced with one in the middle of nowhere, that’s a serious problem. Worse still if I had booked accommodation based on that stop.

Is this automatic recalculation intentional? Or is there a setting I’ve missed to lock or preserve the selected route and chargers exactly as planned?

Additionally, I’ve noticed another frustrating limitation: when ABRP selects a charger in a certain area, there’s no straightforward way for me to say, “No, use this nearby charger instead.” Even if I can see a better option just 500 meters away, the only workaround seems to be marking all the undesired chargers as “avoid” and hoping ABRP eventually chooses the one I want.

Unfortunately, even this doesn’t always work. On a recent plan, I marked 9 out of 10 chargers in an area as “avoid” — deliberately leaving the tenth one unflagged, hoping it would be selected — but ABRP ignored it entirely and routed me to the next town instead. That charger was active and available, so there was no technical reason to avoid it.

I really appreciate the power and potential of ABRP, but these issues make it unreliable for planning critical trips unless I can trust the route and charging stops to stay exactly as I set them.

I want to also add that recently I tried the 14 days trial for ABRP Premium, hoping this problems were limitations in place since I was not a premium user: that changed nothing and the app still misbehaved as already explained.

Thank you in advance for any clarification you can provide. I hope this feedback helps improve the app’s functionality for hands-on users like myself.

Best regards, Filippo
