I used to connect my BMW i5 edrive 40 to live data but its gone. Also obd connection is not possible. There is no option to select it. Why it has been changed and when it will be available again. Thank you.
We sent out an email to users with a BMW on their account at 12th November regarding Enode connection with BMW.
“BMW Group has introduced new commercial terms and access restrictions for accessing vehicle data via their API. Unfortunately, the restrictions basically mean that we would get no useful EV data from your vehicle, so we have no choice but to turn off live data via Enode for BMW.As a result, from November 14th, BMW and MINI connectivity via Enode in ABRP will no longer be available. No action is needed on your side.If you’re disappointed by this change, you can share feedback directly with BMW. Hearing from drivers helps highlight how important fair, open access to vehicle data is for enabling smart and sustainable energy services.We thoroughly understand the value of live data in ABRP and we are always on the lookout for new solutions to allow our users to connect their vehicles.”

Hello ABRP Team,
Thank you for the email explaining the shutdown of BMW live data via Enode. I understand that due to BMW’s new API restrictions, cloud-based live data is no longer possible.
However, there is an important issue that I would like to highlight:
While Enode (BMW ConnectedDrive / cloud) live data has been disabled, the OBD live data option is also removed when selecting BMW i5 as the vehicle. This is confusing and very limiting, because OBD is a completely local data source and does not rely on BMW’s API or Enode at all.
Here is what I am seeing in practice:
If I select BMW i5, the OBD / live data option does not appear at all.
If I select BMW i4 (eDrive40) with the same phone, same OBD dongle, and same ABRP version, the OBD live data option appears and works correctly.
This clearly indicates that:
OBD live data still works technically
The limitation is only applied at the vehicle profile level for i5
My request is very simple and, I believe, reasonable:
Please re-enable OBD-based live data for BMW i5, even if Enode / cloud connectivity remains disabled.
Many BMW EV owners are happy to use:
Bluetooth OBD dongles
Local, phone-based data
Without any dependency on BMW’s cloud APIs
Removing both Enode and OBD at the same time unnecessarily degrades the ABRP experience, especially for a vehicle that is otherwise very well suited for long-distance EV routing.
I hope you can consider separating these two data sources:
Cloud / Enode (disabled – understood)
Local OBD (should remain available)

I’ve switched back to BMW i5 and will test the OBD live data shortly. I’ll let you know if I notice anything missing or behaving unexpectedly during use.
