Arrival SoC Margin Setting to Avoid False Warnings After Last Charging Stop

Dear ABRP Team,

First of all, thank you for developing such a powerful and accurate tool for EV route planning. I’ve been using ABRP Premium in combination with a BLT OBD2 dongle in my VW e-Golf (model year 2017+) and wanted to share my impressions and a few improvement suggestions based on real-world usage.

Positive experience:

- The OBD2 connection was established without issues and remained stable throughout the test.

- Range and battery predictions were impressively accurate – the actual state of charge (SoC) upon arrival consistently matched the estimates.

- The learning and calibration features worked very well, helping tailor the planning to my vehicle’s real consumption profile.

Suggestions for improvement:

1. City routing optimization

Some urban routes tend to zig-zag with frequent turns. It would be great to have an option to prefer slightly longer routes with fewer turns for a smoother drive.

2. Stop info display

I’d appreciate a toggle option to show remaining distance and ETA for the current charging stop (top right). This would free up the bottom left display to always show the final destination and its ETA, giving a better overall overview.

3. SoC arrival margin setting

After charging at the last planned stop and driving off, the SoC can sometimes briefly drop below the target, triggering a warning that the destination is no longer reachable. A user-definable SoC margin (e.g. ± n%) for the destination would help avoid false alerts.

4. Flexible charge stop editing

Currently, removing or replacing a charge stop manually isn't very intuitive. A simple “remove/replace/skip” option for charging stops would make dynamic adjustments easier.

5. Recovery from missed stops

If a planned stop is missed, ABRP could automatically reroute to the next viable charging location based on user preferences, or recognize that the next planned stop is still within reach.

Thanks again for your great work – ABRP is by far the best EV planner I’ve used so far. I hope some of the suggestions are useful.

Best regards from Germany
